Timing System
Uberthons uses only Jaquar timing equipment by Innovative Timing Systems.

Uberthons is proud to offer its clients the elite Jaguar Timing System, a state-of-the-art RFID chip-timing system. The most powerful timing system available, the Jaguar can perform up to 1,000 reads a second, with full redundancy. With unparalleled technology, reliability, and real-time reporting, and with UberResultsSystem that creates real-time web updating with all overall and age-group placings during the event, Uberthons and Jaguar are crushing the competitor field in event timing. The UberResultsSystem can produce real-time web updating for over 1,000 races being run simultaneously. Although Uberthons times races for race directors in Oregon and Washington, the UberResultsSystem is available throughout the United States.
During a single event, Uberthons timing equipment is capable of timing 99,999 runners, and 100 races. Uberthons can even time as many split points as a race director requires. Marathons can now have 36 split points - if race directors require that many. Each runner in a large relay may see his or her standing with the rest of the pack at the end of each relay hand-off via the UberResultsSystem live web updates. While the world's largest relay currently requires its runners to hand-write his or her leg times and turn in the piece of paper at the end of the race, Uberthons does this automatically, simultaneously, effortlessly, and perfectly.
Uberthons offers its timing services to race directors who are having problems with other timing systems, or to those who still use the mat system. There are now more timers in the United States who use Jaquar than any other timing equipment. The chip is disposable. The runner keeps the chip - please do not give it back to us. No blue, red, or dirty, messy mats to run over - our antennas are overhead out of the way. With the system, the race director may have all the bells and whistles - live results, text messaging, chip check at bib pickup, help with packet pickup at a Famous Footwear store, live Internet updates, large-screen monitors with immediate results, and Alan Rasmussen, one of the top 20 Jaquar timers in America. Uberthons times events for race directors using all the same equipment you have seen at an event that is managed by Uberthons.
The sophistication and capabilities of Jaguar are commensurate with the knowledge and talent behind Uberthons. The Jaguar and UberResultsSystem represents the substantial investment that Uberthons has in its events and its clients, and reflects the dedication and pure passion for the sport to encourage runners at all levels to participant time and time again in running activities, for fun, for competition, and for fitness.

None of our timing competitors has ever been to an Uberthons event - so it would be tough to listen to a competitor as he or she tries to draw a comparison between Jaguar, UberResultsSystem, and their mat system. Come participate in an Uberthons-timed event. If you are a race director, come, and participate by running - or help us manage the event. If you help us manage an event, come at least three hours before starting time because it takes us that long to connect all the monitors you will have at your event. You will be convinced that an Uberthons-timed event will help grow your event from small to large in a short period of time. Do what we did - throw your old-style mat system away - why use a mat system when you can have the best system. Here are Alan's direct words about his mat system he used for years - I don't ever want to use it again. A client tells us a story of a competitor telling her that Uberthons cannot possible do all these things. Our simple reply - "Oh, yes we can!" If you want to go world-class, then, go world-class.

The following is an article produced by Innovative Timing Systems.
5K event with 71,000+ participants, you better use a timing system that works!
This year (2010) the Susan G. Komen St. Louis Race for the Cure(R)offered chip timing to their participants. Roughly 2000 runners signed up and were thrilled to know that their results would be displayed in real-time with no delay! In addition, there were no mats or ramps in the way. The disposable G-Chip on the bib once again proved it's a winner! Jaguar had a nearly perfect 100% read rate at the finish line. Although most everyone in this race choose not to be timed, they might as well have. Jaguar was designed from day one to time events of all sizes.
One of the greatest fund raising events in the nation is the Susan G. Komen St. Louis Race for the Cure(r). This wonderful organization has raised millions of dollars in the fight against breast cancer. The race is a 5K for both competitive runners and walkers. Over the past 10 years, the St. Louis race has become the largest in the nation. It's a 5K event with over 71,000 participants! This year (2010), the race organizers decided they wanted to offer chip timing to their participants. The challenge in doing so was finding a company that could truly handle a massive event this size and finding a timing system that's going to deliver without fail on race day. The race organizers evaluated several timing companies and choose Fleet Feet Sports of St. Louis, Missouri. Fleet Feet has a vast amount of experience when it comes to race timing and they use the Jaguar Chip Timing System. The combination of great staffing and a world-class chip timing system made it possible to handle this enormous race. Approximately 2,000 participants choose to be chip timed and their results were displayed in real-time with no delay. So what makes Jaguar so special when it comes to timing very large events such as this one.
When you have thousands of people crossing a start or finish line very rapidly, you can't take a chance on having them trip and fall when they step on a mat or a plastic ramp. Often times, runners are not looking down when they are in a tight pack with other runners, so the chances of them tripping go up considerably. In a large event, this could be very dangerous because someone could be trampled by the crowd. With Jaguar, these potential liabilities go away because our product uses antennas that are mounted overhead and to the side of the course. Not only do you need a system that eliminates a trip hazard, you need a system that provides a disposable chip on the bib that works well. At Innovative Timing Systems, we invented the G-Chip on the race bib, and we have multiple patents-pending on this type of technology.
In addition to great reads, the system delivered real-time results at the finish line and instant results to any participant who wanted to know how they did in the event. Furthermore, only 4 systems were needed to time this event, unlike competitors who might require far more systems to achieve 100% redundancy. Although just a few thousand participants chose to be chip timed, this didn't reduce the challenge of reading the chips successfully. Participants were mingled together and Jaguar had to read chips through thousands of bodies. It was great to know that when thousands of participants, timed or not, crossed through the start line, there was no risk to tripping on our antennas since they are mounted overhead and to the side of the course.
When it comes to successfully managing and timing events, you can have a great advantage over your competitors when you have a timing system that enhances the entire race experience. That's what separates Jaguar from the rest of the field. It delivers advanced features unlike anything ever seen before. And it does all of this at the lowest operating cost in the industry!
ITS Jaguar(tm) shows it can read well in large crowds of runners!
Why are disposable chips so important? Not only do disposable chips simplify race logistics and reduce the number of volunteers that are needed. Nicholas Belasco D.O., a dual certified Family Medicine/Primary Care Sports Medicine Specialist, says the Jaguar disposable chips, in conjunction with a well-designed finish line, significantly increase the safety of running race participants. “Besides the obvious risks of collision or creating a bottleneck at the finish line,” wrote Dr. Belasco in an email to SpectaSport (an ITS Customer)... “the act of stopping an athlete in their tracks right as they complete the race is dangerous -- because that is the precise physiologic mechanism for Exercise Associated Collapse (EAC), which is a type of orthostatic hypotension to which anyone exercising hard can succumb. The body needs to "cool down" following a maximal cardiovascular effort, that's why we have people keep walking after a race, so that their heart rate and blood pressure have a few seconds to adjust. When you don't let people adjust, they run the risk of passing out right at the finish line, which can be very dangerous. I have seen this happen at races so many times, that now it is part of my pre-race walkthrough that I go speak to the timing people and ask them to collect the ankle timing devices a hundred yards from the finish line so that the participants have a chance to slow down and stabilize before they ask them to stop and bend down to take off their devices.”
How have other timing companies reacted to Dr. Belasco’s vast, on-the-street medical experience? “I am frequently met with opposition,” he continued, “as the timing devices are expensive, and the timers are often worried that people will walk off with them. It is a significant (for medical personnel) logistical irritation at best, and at worst has the potential to ruin a race for any number of participants. That is why I prefer a timing tag like the one from Jaguar. The tags are small and disposable, allowing the racers to walk around while wearing them and cool off, significantly reducing the number of EAC cases (as well as collision injuries) I see during a race. They allow the computers and judges to capture the data they need, without causing more medical and logistical problems for the medical team and without putting race participants at un-necessary risk.” Dr. Belasco says that the ITS Jaguar(tm) timing chips significantly reduce cases of EAC and make the race a better experience for those involved.
It's just more proof that the ITS Jaguar(tm) Chip Timing System is the right choice
When the University of Missouri at St. Louis needed to raise money for a worthy cause, they called on Innovative Timing Systems. We were thrilled to provided our Jaguar system at a reduced rate. Although it was a small 5K race, the participants had a great time.
This race was timed with our standard Bronze system. Notice the wonderful race banners that bring a polished look to the event. Jaguar captured 100% of the timing chips and we were able to provide race results in real-time without delay! It was just another great day for the Jaguar Chip Timing System.
