Our 2nd Annual Panther Pride Run will be held on Saturday, October 5, 2013. The festivities will be hosted on the St. Pius X Church and School Campus, with the Run traveling through the local Cedar Mill neighborhood. The 5k race will start at 8:00AM.
The Panther Pride Run was established in conjunction with the St. Pius X School's Annual Student Jog-A-Thon. The school and the event are not-for-profit, all of the Panther Pride Run proceeds will go to benefit St. Pius X School. The Run is a family-friendly event, all ages and all speeds are welcome to participate! We are celebrating family fitness together as a community while supporting St. Pius X School.
Additional inquiries may be sent to:
Parking - Please utilize the upper level parking lot at the St. Pius X Church and School campus. All entrance must be made via NW 123rd Ave from NW Cornell Rd. The main Saltzman Rd. entrance to the St. Pius X Campus will be closed to all vehicular traffic during the event. To ensure the safety of all participants, there will be NO auto access to the lower level lot during the event.
Course directors - There will be volunteers posted at all turns of the run. The volunteers are providing route guidance to the participants, they are not ensuring any individual's safety or providing supervision. We ask that all children remain with a parent or responsible party through the duration of the run.
Timing equipment - Uberthons uses Jaquar timing equipment. Overhead RFID antennas capture you time using disposable chips that are fastened to the back of your racing bib. Take the chips home with you - you will not be asked to return the chips. Wear your bib on the upper chest to maximize the chip reads. Chips and timing equipment are manufactured by Innovative Timing Systems -innovativetimingsystems.com
Valuables - We will have a bag check provided at a designated table and area on the field for participants to leave their warm-up clothes in a bag during the event. The bag check service is intended only for clothing, we are not responsible for any valuables, keys, wallets, etc.
Race course - The Panther Pride Run course is a 5k (3.1mile) route that travels from the St. Pius X Church and School Campus through the neighborhoods in Cedar Mill. The course is hilly by nature, given the general contour of the local area. The course will utilize a majority of the quiet neighborhood streets as well as some parts on the more heavily used Saltzman Rd. There will be NO road closures on the course during the event, therefore the use primarily of sidewalks is strongly encouraged throughout and especially while running on Saltzman Rd for your own safety. There will be one water station near the halfway point of the course as well as a first aid / nurses station and additional water and refreshments on the school field at the start/finish line.
Walkers welcome! Walkers may participate in the Panther Pride Run. Families are encouraged to participate together with their children. All are welcome! The queue at the Starting line will have the fastest runners at the front and the more casual walking participants near the rear.
KIDS welcome! Children accompanied by adults are welcome to participate in Panther Pride Run. Families are encouraged to walk / jog / run together. Children must be supervised by an adult at all times for their own security. The event will provide race course supervision of the run flow and safety of all participants, but is not responsible for the supervision of individual participants.
Jogging strollers allowed! We invite families to come and enjoy the event together, even with the littlest members. Strollers will be started at the end of the queue from the starting line. Please be considerate of the other participants and stay to the outer sides of the course route.
We love dogs, but for the safety of everyone, dogs are NOT allowed.
