Volunteers and Participants of the event - you are the best
Lise and Faith Memorial Run

And, the winners are . . .
The webpage is about to change.
Video Invitation Komo News Story - aired on August 7th, 2011
August 17 & 18, 2012
Kids Race, 1K, 5K, 10K
Puyallup, Washington

Lise Marie Palmer was a wife, mother, daughter, and friend. She brought endless joy to her parents Cathy and Craig, selfless devotion to her husband and unconditional love to her sons. She was a talented athlete, a gifted runner, and had a competitive drive on and off the court.
On May 27th, Lise was 7 months pregnant and went for a jog on her vacation in Lake Chelan. A driver fell asleep at the wheel, lost control of the car, and hit and instantly killed Lise and her unborn baby, Faith. She left behind her many family members and friends, but most importantly her best-friend and husband, Ryan and her two sons Ray (age 4) and Mac (age 2).
On August 20th, 2011 we run in Lise and Faith's honor. We run because running and fitness was Lise's passion. We run for their family. We run because Lise would run.

Event-day Information
Day of race registrations - yes, we can do day-of-race registrations. Be at the registration table at 6:30 am to 7:30 am. Complete a paper registration at the event, or print the form, and bring it with you. Present the completed registration paper at the registration table with a check, and you will be signed in. Please try to register online by August 17 at 5:00 pm so the Start time will not be delayed. ONLINE REGISTRATION CLOSES AT NOON AUGUST 19.
We will still have packet pickup the morning of the race starting at 6:30am. We want all the packets to be picked up by 7:30 am. Get there early to avoid the long lines.

On race-day morning, go to Pre Registration. You will pick up your packet, which contains your bib number and other goodies.
We will still have packet pickup the morning of the race starting at 6:30am. We want all the packets to be picked up by 7:30 am. Get there early to avoid the long lines.
If you picked up your packet on Friday night, you do not need to register, and you will already have your bib in place, the safety pins on, your goggles tightened, ready to go!

Packet Pickup will be held Friday August 19th at Rogers High School parking lot from 4 pm – 8 pm. We highly encourage you to come Friday and get your packets and goody bags on Friday if you can. You may pick up packets for friends - you will be asked to fill in your name and the names of your friends on a form.
When you have picked up your packet on Friday night, you will not need to stand in line Friday morning. Good job!
Bibs - You are a runner now. Runners wear bibs. If you are new, or if you are walking, wear a bib. It is part of the racing experience. You will be given an envelope with a bib inside. On the front of the bib is a number; and the back of the bib is a timing chip (timing chip for 10k and 5k ONLY) attached to it. You must wear the bib number on the front of your shirt near the top. Doing this will almost give you a 100 percent guarantee your timing chip will be read by the antennas. Attach the bib with safety pins that will be available on Friday and Saturday; if you happen to have 4 safety pins from a prior race, we encourage you to bring them, and use them to attach your bib to the front of your shirt; we will have plenty at the race as well. In you would, put the used envelope in a bin for used envelopes close to the registration tables.

Race start times
The 7:00 AM 5k Early Bird begins at 7:00 AM. Have your shoes laced up well before 7:00 AM. Have your bib number on. Have your hair brushed back. Ready, Set, Go!
The 10k race begins promptly at 8:00 am, the 5k starts at 8:10 am. If you are signed up for the 5k, it’s important that you do not start prior to 8:10 because your timing chip will not receive a starting time. All timing chips are programmed to start recording times according to the race that you are registered for. With that said, each participants race will start when you cross the start line (as long as you start with the correct group) and will finish when you cross the finish line.
Safety
We want this race to be the safest race anyone has participated in, but we need your help. Please be courteous at the start line, during the race, and at the finish line. At the start line, let those who will be running faster line up in front; and, those with jogging strollers or who are walking please line up in back (again your time will not start until you cross the start line). The trail will be narrow at points, so be aware of your surroundings at all times and keep yourself and others safe. Watch your kids, and do not leave them unattended. We want this event to be fun and safe for everyone.
Course records
Course records will be set on the 20th. With that in mind, this race will occur again next year and everyone will have a chance at breaking the new course record. Of course there is already a 5k course record set by Alan Rasmussen of Uberthons at 20:23 in preparations for this race. So this record could fall.
Timers
Last item for now, please do not bother the timers during the duration of the race. They will be busy ensuring that all times are read by the antennas and running reports so everyone will have them available within minutes after finishing. The timers will have a box for notes that you wish to give the timers - sometimes you name is spelled wrong, or you actually ran faster than the world's most advanced timing equipment indicates - if this happens, leave the timers a note in the box. They are working around the clock to make sure this race is properly timed and that everyone will enjoy the latest and greatest technology brought to you by Uberthons. You will be impressed.
You will receive one or two more emails containing a few more items of which to make note. See you Saturday.
Medic on the site - Lynn Kovacevich of Virginia Mason Medical Center in Seattle, and the Sports Medicine Clinic will be available to provide medical assistance if necessary. Lynn and Lise grew up together from elementary through high school. Stop by and meet Lynn!
T-shirts - pick up your t-shirt on event day between the hours of 6:30 am and 7:45 am. Or, you may pick it up once the races are finished.
Kiddo t-shirts are available for the first 190 kids (13 and under) who are registered. Toddler t-shirts are not available.
A t-shirt is guaranteed for the first 1,000 registered 1K, 5K AND 10K runners/walkers. We have some wonderful people who have made this possible. Thank you.
All kids receive a nice ribbon.
Bag-Gear Check - the event is not providing a bag or gear check. Please leave valuables at home or in the car. Thank you for understanding.
Chip-timing - the race is chip-timed. The 5K and the 10K can be competitive for some. That is why the chips are important. You will be given a bib with a chip already attached. Wear the bib on the front of your chest, not in your pocket of on your back, pants, legs, or arms. Please bring your bib ready to wear. Bring 4 safety pins; if you do not have any safety pins, you may pick some up at the registration desk to attach the bib. All 5K and 10K participants will be chip-timed. The chip will be on your bib when you pick up your packet. If you have never been chip-timed, this will be an experience for you. The chip is read by an RFID antenna, no mats on the ground. Place your chip properly, and most likely, it will be read with 100% accuracy. Take the chip and bib home with you.
Alcohol - this event is a no-alcohol event
Parking - the park has 468 parking spaces. Try to car pool. If you want to car pool, email This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it , and we will try to arrange a car pool for you. If you plan to stay in the park until at least 9 am, you may park in the east parking lot. You should not ask to drive your car out of the east parking lot until 9 am as runners will be on a portion of the park road until 9 am.
Restrooms - Heritage has adequate facilities in the park.
Chairs - bring lawn chairs with you.
Strollers - Absolutely. The faster strollers should line up in the front of the Starting Line. Those who have slower strollers, let's have you line up towards the rear of the pack. This way, you will have the right of way.
Shade - some people will bring a 10 x 10 tent to keep the shade on themselves.
Water - the event will have plenty of water for participants. Thank you very much Candy Morrison and Cascade Ice
Animals - no pets at the event or in the park.
5K and 10K - the 5K goes all the way to South Hill Park and back with a doubled run on one section. The 10K is on the same exact 5K course, and the 10K is run on the 5K course twice.
Results - the results of the races will be posted on monitors at the timer's desk, and in paper form on the results board. Results will be posted on the website during the race.
Event emcee and announcer - None other than thee C-o-r-e-y W-i-l-k-i-n-s!

You have heard his voice at Tacoma City Marathon, Narrows Half Marathon, St. Patty's Day Dash 5k, Bonney Lake Chamber Triathalon, and a host of other running and non-running events.
He is a professional public speaker, former radio DJ, and Broadcast Communications major from Seattle Pacific University.
Timing desk - the timers will be busy before and during the races. Please talk with timers only when it looks like they are not busy.
Event photos - the photography crew will take lots of pictures of the event participants including the kids race. These pictures will be available on the website shortly after the event. The pictures are free. Download them into anything you want. Print them anyway you want. If you see some spectacular shots of someone, let us know.
Safety - everyone needs to help with safety at the event. Please watch for unsafe items on the running course - a rock, a branch, slick spots. Tell an event coordinator, and we will have it removed. Watch for others, put others safety first. Be courteous. Let faster runners go by you. Help others in need. Watch for the safety of the children. Parents - watch your kids - do not let them get out of your site.
Course records - we know some of the runners are serious competitors. Your times are very important. The course record for the Female 5K, Female 10K, Male 5K, and Male 10K will be set during this event. No other group has used this exact course. The record will be posted on the webpage, and will be changed only when someone else has broken the record using the same chips and timing equipment. To date, only the 5K has a record - Alan Rasmussen of Sherwood, Oregon with a time of 20:23 set July 23, 2011 in preparation for the August 20 event.
Signs - follow the signs while you are running. The signs are placed in locations to help you follow the correct course.

Chip-timed Races

This event deserves the best, so Uberthons is bringing its latest and greatest timing equipment. The 5K and 10K will be chip-timed, and your results will be instantly available at the race site and on the webpage. For those of you who are competitive, this race is not gun-timed, rather it is chip-timed. That means, your starting time begins when you cross the starting line.
If you are not in the very front of the line, but, you are way in the back at the start, those in front of you will not have an unfair advantage because you have the same privilege of having a real time - start to finish - as those who were placed at the head of the pack. Don't tell anyone, but that really means your time could be the fastest even though you started at the back of the pack. Life really is fair after all!
