Last-minute details

Special Welcome

Welcome to Oregon to those of you who are coming from 46 states and countries including Australia, China, Germany, Great Britain, Panama, Canada, Czech Republic, Brazil, New Zealand, and the United States of America!  If this is your first time, extra, extra welcome! You are here to enjoy the Oregon Marathon, the Oregon Summer Half Marathon, or to enjoy Oregon one Quarter Marathon at a time.

We are proud of Oregon, and will celebrate with you at the start and finish of your race.

You will be interested in the 2017 Oregon Fall Half Marathon, the 2018 Oregon Winter Half Marathon, and the 2018 Oregon Spring Half Marathon. The 2018 Oregon Marathon will be on the same course.  We will keep track of your results to see how you do each year!

The Summer Half Marathon course was moved to the Banks Vernonia Trail last year after we experienced extra hot weather in St. Paul in 2015.  The 2017 course is mostly in a forest, which has a higher elevation, and lots of shade.  The Marathon course is a USA Track & Field certified course, and as such, is a Boston Qualifying course.  We will send the official results to the BAA for anyone that qualifies.  If you need a letter from the Oregon Marathon, send an email to, and we will send the needed letter to you.  A short out-and-back is necessary for the Marathon and Half Marathon.  Plenty of volunteers and signs will direct you to the turnaround point. The out-and-back is on a paved road, so there is plenty of room to manuever.

Series Half Marathoners

Those of you who have already purchased four Oregon Half Marathon events - Winter, Spring, Summer, and Fall - may park in the Series parking spaces.  But, to do so, you will need to display two Half Marathon flags on your vehicle.

Several places to park - Sunset Park, Banks High School, Banks Elementary School, and Banks Middle School.  Do not park in the neighborhood by the Greenville City Park, which is the finish-line area.  There is other parking available on other streets.  Please obey all No Parking signs.  If you do not, you will be responsible for any parking tickets.

Carpooling is the best way to get to the event and to conserve parking for everyone.

Man to Beat

Watch out for Paul Rottich in the Marathon.  He is a man on a mission.  He just won his third consecutive Alaska Marathon, and has his sights on the Oregon Marathon overall, and the Oregon Marathon record.  Try to keep up with him.  Or, just have a great day yourself.  Watch for the winners on the winners' podium.

Qualify for Boston

We will be watching your times, and will announce all Boston qualifiers at the awards presentation.  Read more about it HERE.

Medals, age-group pins, gear bags may be picked up at the event only.
